The Associate role at TTCER Partners is an extraordinary opportunity to embark on an investing career with a unique private equity firm that has demonstrated top-decile returns for the last 10+ years.

As one of five full-time professionals managing the investment of our capital, you will gain exposure to a diverse variety of industries, companies at various stages of growth, and entrepreneurs operating both startups and search-acquired companies in our portfolio.

We are looking for an individual with 2+ years of related work experience in investment banking, public or private market investing, strategy consulting and/or a strategic M&A advisory role.

The ideal candidate is interested in building their career as an investor within an entrepreneurial ecosystem. This opportunity is unique in that it provides an entry point to a longer-term investing career within TTCER, a stepping stone to business school, or a variety of entrepreneurial options subsequent to your time with us, which we would expect to be a 2+ year commitment.

Given the scale and management style of TTCER, you will also be exposed to all manner of investment activities. As a result, this is an unparalleled opportunity to make an impact and grow professionally within a highly respected investment firm.

Who are we?

We are an investment partnership formed to support entrepreneurs who are buying and building enduring businesses. We have a core focus on search funds, but we actively back other start-up and talented entrepreneurs of all types. In our investing approach, we prioritize learning, collaboration, and alignment, and we work hard to help our partners reach their full potential. We invest our own capital, which allows us to have a decades-long time horizon when working with like-minded CEOs and partners.

Our investment team is led by Will Thorndike, Gerald Risk, Sara Rosenthal, and Ian McMilan. Our additional partners are Bret Comolli, Jim Ellis, and Kevin Taweel. The founding members of TTCER draw on years of collaboration building Asurion, a search-acquired company that has grown into a global provider of insurance solutions, as well as advising dozens of other growing, recurring revenue businesses.

The ideal candidate has the following:

Hard Skills

  • Excellent analytical acumen with a financial background and demonstrated ability to work with financials and large data sets to build complex financial models at a top bank, PE firm or similar company
  • Strong written and oral communicator with experience writing and presenting investment memos
  • Strong presentation and communication skills coupled with the maturity to work with CEOs, other investors, lawyers etc.
  • Outstanding written skills and ability to write compelling investment memos, generate investment theses and distill communication with portfolio companies and investors

Soft Skills

  • Intellectually curious
  • Deeply interested in entrepreneurship and in (further) developing his or her investing skills
  • An independent self-starter who leans in to identify and act upon opportunities to contribute

Role Specifics:

  • Support the underwriting of all opportunities being considered for investment
  • Help build internal processes and infrastructure for our annual portfolio review
  • Participate in data collection and analysis of in-depth research projects that drive firm IP (e.g., software valuation study, QSBS analysis, etc.)
  • Track industry-wide public and private benchmarks to inform internal decision-making
  • Provide ongoing reporting of KPIs for portfolio companies to track performance across a variety of metrics
  • Use data to help us tell stories, find insights, and plot our path into the future
  • Support our recruiting efforts at the top business schools
  • Support and attend industry events, workshops, conferences

Location:

This role can be geographically flexible, with a requirement to travel to the Bay Area for in-person meetings the equivalent of one week/month, in addition to periodic travel to business schools, conferences, board meetings, etc.
